On October 26, 2021, a girl from the city of Khmelnytsky, Khmelnytsky region, was consulted at the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Nemenko Sofia, who was born on December 25, 2004. The specialists of the Institute diagnosed Sofia with a congenital heart defect - a secondary defect of the atrial septum. To eliminate this congenital heart defect, the girl needs urgent endovascular closure of the secondary atrial septal defect with a Figulla Flex II ASD occluder with a delivery system and a measuring balloon, which costs UAH 114,000.
Sofia's family consists of her mother, Olena Nenko, her father, Ihor Nenko, and an older adult brother who lives separately. The family lives in the city of Khmelnytskyi in a one-room parental apartment in a multi-storey building. The mother is unemployed and earns extra money by cleaning, the father is a group II disabled person, works as an electrician in the inter-district security department of the Security Police in Khmelnytskyi region and receives a state disability pension. The family's income is too low to buy an expensive heart implant - a Figulla Flex II ASD occluder with a delivery system and a measuring balloon - for their youngest daughter's congenital heart disease.
Sofia is an intelligent, open-minded and gifted girl who studies in the 11th grade at the Artem Mazur Technological Multidisciplinary Lyceum. She graduated from the Khmelnytsky Children's School of Fine and Decorative Arts. After school, she plans to study to become a veterinarian and treat animals. physical activity is prohibited for her health reasons. During physical exertion and nervousness, Sofia has heart pain. Sofia's heart murmurs were detected in childhood, and they went away after a while, but after contracting the coronavirus infection COVID-19, her heart pains resumed almost every day. Her parents are very concerned about their daughter's health and want her to feel well.
Sofia's father asked the Foundation to help save her from congenital heart disease.
