Gavrilyuk Karolina

On March 03, 2017, a fragile and gifted six-year-old girl was hospitalized at the Children's Department of the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Gavrilyuk Karolina from the village of Solomonovo, Uzhhorod district, Zakarpattia region, has a congenital heart defect - a secondary atrial septal defect. Karolina needs endovascular closure of the defect with a Figulla Flex II ASD A heart implant, which costs UAH 90,000.

Karolinka's mother, Diana Ivanovna, who is raising her daughter with her husband Vasyl Anatoliyovych, asked the Foundation to help her purchase the expensive consumables. We launched our own project «Let's help Karolinka continue singing!» on our website and Facebook page, and then posted the project «Save Karolinka's heart!» at the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace. The fundraising for the heart implant was supported by the # Opinion Challenge 2.0 team. 180 philanthropists supported the project on the UBB and raised the necessary amount of money, the heart implant was purchased by the Foundation and transferred to the Heart Institute. We were all looking forward to the girl's arrival to save her heart.
On March 07, 2017, the State Institution «Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine» performed X-ray endovascular closure of the secondary atrial septal defect in our singing Karolinka.

After the surgery, she was visited by Maksym Moskalenko from the # Thinking Challenge 2.0 team and Tetiana Raikova from the Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace with good wishes and gifts.

Karolinka's postoperative period was uneventful, and on March 9, the girl was discharged home in a satisfactory condition.

We, along with Diana's mother, father Vasyl and Karolinka, are sincerely grateful to everyone who helped save the girl's life!

For its part, the Foundation wishes Karolinka good health and many victories in singing competitions!
