After the purchase of the necessary medical equipment, it is planned to conduct a highly specialized examination of pregnant women with suspected congenital heart disease (CHD) of the fetus. Timely diagnosis of congenital heart disease is aimed at early cardiac surgery in newborns with critical heart defects. In the future, we plan to introduce intrauterine intervention for fetal congenital heart disease, which is not currently performed in Ukraine; perform transesophageal echocardiography of the heart during surgery in children over 3.5 kg.

 

Congenital heart defects in the fetus are formed in the first 8 months of intrauterine development and do not always depend on the mother's lifestyle. Genetics, which is not always manifested in the parents themselves, has a great impact on the development of the unborn child. And very often parents do not realize that it is their unborn child, whom they are looking forward to, who develops a heart defect, which after birth crosses out all the joyful plans for a happy childhood and parenthood. It is very difficult and painful to look into the eyes of parents who receive the news that their little angel has a heart defect that requires surgical correction. The parents, who had hoped for a refutation of the diagnosis, the first call that came from the doctors at the hospital, are in despair. And the only question they have is: «Why? Why them, because they led a healthy lifestyle, followed all the recommendations!» Parents are not ready for such news. Unfortunately, it happens that congenital heart defects in children cannot always be operated on and saved. Such children are doomed to live the time they have left in suffering with their parents.
