The project has been completed. The heart implant was purchased thanks to the Miss Ukraine National Committee.
On April 25, 2019, a boy from Irpin, Kyiv region, Roman Deryugin, born on March 28, 2015, was consulted at the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The Institute's specialists diagnosed the boy with a congenital heart defect - an open arterial duct and a small dilatation of the left ventricle and pulmonary artery trunk. To eliminate this congenital heart defect, Roman needs endovascular closure of the patent ductus arteriosus with a cardiac implant - the Nit-Occlud PDA spiral system, which costs 64 200 UAH.
The boy's family consists of his mother, Tatyana Grabovskaya, his father, Volodymyr Deryugin, and his older sister, Lilia, who is eight years old and disabled since childhood with cerebral palsy.
The family lives in her parents' one-room apartment, where Tetyana's younger brother lives with them in Irpin, Kyiv region. The boy's parents are in a civil marriage. Roman's mother is unemployed and takes care of the boy's older sister, the only breadwinner in the family is Volodymyr Mykolaiovych Deryugin, who works for the National Police on Transport, as a police officer in the Kyiv Metro.
The family's financial resources are quite limited and consist of the father's salary and state child benefit, so they are unable to purchase an expensive heart implant - the Nit-Occlud PDA spiral system - to treat their son's congenital heart disease. The whole family dreams of Roman's healthy heart. He is a very lively and smiling boy, he loves to play with cars, especially toy trains and trams. Roman's family lives near the railway station and the boy loves to watch the trains go by from the window.
The Foundation was asked by the boy's mother to help raise funds to save Roman's heart.
