The project has been completed. The heart implant was purchased by the International Charitable Foundation in honor of the Intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
On April 22, 2018, a one and a half year old baby - Makarenko Artem from Dobrovelychkivka village, Steblin district, Kirovograd region was consulted at the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The baby was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect - an open arterial duct, an open oval window and other related diagnoses. Artem needed endovascular closure of the defect with a spiral set Nit-Occlud PDA, which cost 68 480 UAH.
Artemka, together with his mom, dad and older brother Bohdan, lives in the village of Dobrovelychkivka, Steblianskyi district, Kirovohrad region. His father, Makarenko Yevhen Antonovych, works as a truck driver, and his mother, Makarenko Maryna Yuriyivna, is on maternity leave to care for her young son. Before her maternity leave, her mother worked as a teacher at Dovrovelychkivska secondary school No. 1. Little Artem has genetic problems and is often ill. The cost of food and drug therapy for the baby takes up most of the money, and he also needs diapers, clothes and many other essentials. The family's financial situation is quite problematic, and little Artem needs endovascular closure of the defect with a Nit-Occlud PDA spiral kit, which costs 68,480 UAH.
The family is unable to pay for a heart implant for their son on their own. Artem's mother turned to the Foundation with a request to help raise funds for the expensive consumables for her baby.
