On August 28, 2018, Bohdan Shershun, a boy from the village of Zlazne, Kostopil district, Rivne region, born on December 13, 2010, was hospitalized at the Children's Department of the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. Bohdan has a congenital heart defect - an open arterial duct. The boy needs endovascular closure of the defect with the Nit-Occlud PDA spiral set.
Mykola Shershun, the boy's father, asked the Foundation to help raise funds for an expensive implant to save the heart of his younger son Bohdan. We started project «Let's help Bohdan's heart!». The Foundation posted information about the boy and all the necessary supporting documents on its website and Facebook page. Information about the project was also published in a newspaper in South Africa.
Bohdan's heart was immediately helped by ICF «International Charitable Foundation in honor of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin», who purchased the necessary heart implant and sent it to the Heart Institute. We sincerely thank them from the bottom of our hearts!
On August 29, 2018, at the Heart Institute of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, Bohdan Shershun underwent X-ray endovascular closure of the patent ductus arteriosus. The postoperative period was uneventful, and on August 31, the boy was discharged home in satisfactory condition.
We, along with Bohdan, his parents and older brothers, are sincerely grateful to the International Charitable Foundation in honor of the Intercession of the Most Holy Theotokos, which helped save the boy's life! We are very pleased to have such a reliable friend and partner.
